Thanks to the dedication of our Afghan team members in Greece, our colleagues in Afghanistan, and funding from the Linda Norgrove Foundation, CHEERing’s program to help mothers and children in Afghanistan has grown exponentially since 2022. The CHEERing Grow Clinic in Herat is run by three Afghan women: Samana, a midwife, Somaye, a doctor, and Basira, an anesthesiology student, who provide prenatal and postnatal care to 30 families on a rolling basis, treat severely malnourished children, and distribute food aid packages to female-headed households. The recent earthquakes in and around Herat have only further highlighted the need for quality medical care, support, and emergency food aid in the region.

Many thanks to the Linda Norgrove Foundation for their work to support the health of women and children in Afghanistan.
