"I will never forget the joy on a mother’s face when she learned that her baby is doing well – and I will always remember the pain on a mother’s face when she struggled to access much-needed care. My experiences [at CHEERing] fueled my passion for global health and health equity. I will carry them with me as I embark on my public health career, having recently graduated in May." 💙
Check it out! @cheerequity's latest #ResearchSpotlight looked at whether or not #postpartum medication practices were associated with shorter breastfeeding duration or unexpected earlier breastfeeding cessation among mothers with chronic conditions. 💡 To help better meet maternal #breastfeeding goals, it’s suggested to start medication & lactation counseling early in pregnancy and continue throughout pregnancy & after birth. This week's #ResearchSpotlight examined reactive antibody concentrations in maternal blood, infant blood & breastmilk at birth and 6 weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infection in early versus late gestation. #Breastfeeding remains safe and recommended in maternal COVID-19 infections as protective antibodies can transfer through breast milk.
