Thiba day at the dentist

CHEERing’s research – and experience – shows that poor dental health is one of the biggest problems for refugees in Greece. From small children to older adults, tooth decay means poor sleep, trouble eating, and PAIN.

It’s almost impossible to get to a dentist when you are in a camp miles from anywhere with no transport. CHEERing works with the wonderful Palestinian organization, Seeds of Humanity, https://seedsofhumanity.org/ that offers free dental care to refugees in Athens.

Last week we held our 1st dental day for Thiba residents, bringing a bus into Athens from the camp and getting over 20 people age 5 and up treated for a huge range of big dental problems, having fillings, extractions, and even root canals.

Transportation and CHEERing infrastructure for this project were funded by the FC Barcelona Foundation.
