CHEERing Fellow Mariah Banks participated in Boston University Center on Forced Displacement’s (CFD) first-ever annual conference on Tuesday! Mariah presented initial results from ‘Health on the Fly,’ a CHEERing project funded by the CFD to research health needs, barriers, and perceptions of health interventions among refugees. Check out the poster here.
“As a graduate student and CHEERing fellow funded in part by the CFD, presenting at their conference and sharing this work was especially meaningful,” shared Mariah. “Refugees are among the most vulnerable members of society, often facing considerable healthcare needs and poor access to care. As far as we know, these data are not being collected on refugees in Greece. Our work exposes the gaps in care that need to be confronted and addressed.”
The conference was a great opportunity to share ‘Health on the Fly’ updates and hear from others in the field! We look forward to the next part of this project: focus group discussions to gain insights from refugees on barriers to care.
